How to register business name, company with cac Nigeria online or offline name search
Registering your business name in any part of Nigeria is not as difficult as most Nigerians think it to be. Its actually something that can be done without using any lawyer or agent if you follow the steps I will be highlighting below.
At this point is worthy to note that for you to run your business legally in the country, it is very important to have your company or business registered, this will enable you the opportunity to do business with other companies and individuals and be able to do financial transactions in the name of your company or business.

Simple Steps to Registering your Company (Online) in Nigeria
1. Simply go to CAC online self service portal at http://services.cac.gov.ng/ and create a user account
NOTE: Very important to state here that Corporate Affairs commission automatically adds a registered account as among the Proprietors and trustees when filling for name search online, So online create fresh accounts for Businesses you are not going to be listed as a Proprietor, failure to adhere to this instruction renders your details incorrect and correcting list of Proprietors will attract extra fees and hurdles.
2. After registration for login account click on Name availability search link at the left hand top corner or the web page, where you will be directed to fill a form on your desired names and this takes you through 3 main steps, which are; Desired Company/Business name, Basic company information and summary of information you have entered. See Images below
3. Fill your desired Name Option 1 and Option 2 (IMPORTANT: Make Option 1 your main desired and Option 2 your plan B) then click Next button
4. Choose Registration classification (i.e. Business name, Company. Incorporated trustee), choose business type, reason for incorporation and state Nature of the business in the column provided. then click next to review the information supplied to be sure they are correct and fill additional details such as drivers licence, international passport or permanent voters ID numbers and then click NEXT
5. choose you payment option i,e. Remita, mastercard, Visa, Verve e.t.c
N.B. Name search by CAC, Nigeria cost five hundred Naira (N500).
Depending on the payment options you choose you will be redirected to the Processing financial service providers website where you can fill out your card details and upon successful payment, you will be redirected back to the CAC self service website.
6. Seat back and relaze, you will receive a mail within a week to notify you on the result of your name search, or alternatively do check your account profile at services.cac.gov.ng to get the final decision on your chosen name.
