Umar Ganduje was born and raised in Ganduje Village in Dawakin Tofa Local government Area in Kano, Nigeria. He attended Quranic and Islamiyya school in Ganduje Village before proceeding to Dawakin Tofa Primary school between 1956 to 1963. On completion of His primary Education, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had his secondary school education at Government secondary school Birnin Kudu between 1964 and 1968 before seating for his West Africa Examination Council (WAEC Exam).
