Simi or simplySimi like shes fondly called by music colleagues  and fans alike is no stranger in the Nigerian music scene, the young and promising female artist became famous following the release of her hit music tracks, Jamb question, Tiff and more recently she cemented her position as an artist that has come to stay longer in the music game, following the recent release of "Soldier", a song by Falz featuring Simi. The soldier song was an instant hit and exceptional Simi was the major attraction, as the music video was very dramatic, full of rhythm and a new style and definition brought to play in the Nigerian music scene by Falz.

With the recent release of the short video film accompanying Soldier, Falz’s second duet with Simisola Ogunleye (SIMI), it can be said that both musicians are guilty of the Midas touch.

............This video is almost reminiscent of the video for Simi’s breakthrough song Jamb Question, but it is longer and clearly more ambitious. It begins in the middle, a popular trick, with scenes of the kidnap of six females including Simi from an unnamed location presumably in western Nigeria, and an ensuing rescue mission led by soldiers.
Soon enough, a tender love story of promenade between a soldier and a civilian village girl is told. 

Background

Born in Surulere, Ojuelegba area to be precise, simi had her early primary and Secondary education in Lagos state, before moving to Covenant University, Ota Ogun state, where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in mass communications. She is the last born among four siblings in the family. Her love for music started as early has 10 years old, singing at the children's choir of her church.

Music Career
  
Simi's professional music career started in the year 2006, following the successful release of her first debut album under Samklef's music Production, the album titled "Ogaju", a Gospel album which had tracks like Ara Ile,Iya Temi among others.

Simi in 2011, was spotted and connected musically well with Oscar Heman-Ackah, who is a music producer and songwriter. in 2013 she officially signed a contract with Oscar music Production, this new signing brought about the new rebranded Simi, and created a new direction for her music career.

This relationship with Oscar gave her the opportunity of been signed to X3M music in 2014.   

In January 2014, simi released 5 EP tracks, which cover songs by popular foreign music artist like Adele "set fire to the rain" and Rihana "Man down"

The  EP tracks gained the music artist goog reputation, new fan based and earned her a music record deal with the x3m music, a brand whom fellow Nigerian singer and Project fame participant Praiz was signed to.

On january 9th, 2014, Simi released two singles titled "Tiff" and  "e no go funny", she enjoyed great air play on radio and earned herself a nomination for "best alternative song category" at the Headies in 2015, in the same 2015, she won "most promising act to watch" at the Nigerian entertainment awards.

Her biggest collaboration so far has been the featuring in Falz song Soldier, which was released in 2016
