Political Office/Appointment: Former Special Adviser to Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Dr Reuben Abati is a Nigerian born in Abeokuta, a neighbouring state with Lagos.
He attended University of Calabar in 1981, winning the vice-chancellors price for overall best student during graduation in 1985. he graduated with first class honours in the Bachelor of theatre Arts.
He then proceeded to study for his masters degree in dramatic literature,Theory and Criticism at the University of Ibadan, graduating in 1990 at age 24.
Reuben Abati also attended college of Journalism, University of Maryland, college park, United states of America as Hubert H. Humphrey fellow, between 1996.
Graduated with a LL.B (Hons) in Theatre Arts,Journalism and law from Lagos State University in Ojo, Lagos in 1997.
Work Life
Reuben Abati worked at University of Benin as a graduate Assistant in Department of theathre Arts between 1985 1nd 1986 while doing his compulsory National youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Premier University between 1986 and 1990.
Worked as Lecturer II at Ogun State University In 1990 after completing his PHD.
Before taking up political appointment in the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Reuben Abati worked as a newspaper columnist for Foremost Nigerian newspaper, the Guardian. Other newspaper his had a column are Nigerian Village square,Daily Sketch, Democrat, Nigerian Tribune and Daily Times, Vanguard and the Punch Newspapers respectively. He was also a contributing Editor to Hints and Hearts Romance Magazine.
Family
Abati is Married to Iyabo Abati who is a banker and are both blessed with four children, James Abati,Elizabeth Abati,Daniel Abati and Samuel.
