How to become an actor, actress in Nollywood,Hollywood,Bollywood,Nigeria.Best guide ever

 Many out there are passionate and highly desiring to find a place in the already saturated Movie industry and become a well establish actors and actress. But I tell you, the road to attaining this dream is not an easy one, but yet very achievable for the Talented, Passionate, persevering and hardworking minds, who knows what they want and how to go about what they want within the moral and legal process available.

 Before I get into step by steps details on how you can be an actor or actress in leading Movie and film Industry like Hollywood, Bollywood and Nollywood (those 3 film and movie industry listed above are the 3 major film and movie producing industry in the World, it’s the collective name giving to movie and action film industry in United states, Indian and Nigeria respectively), I need to state here that you must have the  mind of an entrepreneur and a business person if you must succeed, You must see yourself as a business ready to be market, remember those fame, luxury, money and all the good things that comes with been an actor or actress is business in itself and if people must trust you to be marketable and yield good return for their money invested in producing films, commercial and various form of acting, you also must have the mindset to deliver, because Naturally that’s what every movie and film producers and director thinks before they can give out a role. 

That been said let’s look at the following guide to becoming a successful actor and actress.

1. Take Decision: Acting is not something you stumble on, it’s something you should be able to take decision on, whether you are capable (talented) or is it something you see yourself doing all your life and loving it, no matter the shortcoming and initial rejection you might face as an upcoming actor or actress. 

2. Talent rules in this Industry: The Movie and action film industry is a very highly competitive one and for an upcoming actor/actress, you are better be ready to prove yourself, and to do this you must have  a unique talent and acting delivery, one that’s peculiar, one that is very defining that people can see and say to themselves, only Mr So and so can put up that character. Remember there are no short cut to stardom in this industry, young ladies should at no point NEVER think of sleeping with a Movie Director or Producer in getting an acting role, Remember, if you do succeed sleeping with him to get that Role, will you sleep with all of Us in the World to convince us you are good acting wise?  I only advice only people with talent to venture into this aspect of career. 

We all have this feeling that we are talented especially if it’s in area we are passionately in love with, but to confirm you are really talented in acting let me ask the following question:

2a. have you been part of a local acting group?

2b. what’s the acceptance of your played character like?

2c. did you get one on one personal commendation from the Audience present?

2d. are you naturally good in assuming or pretending to be other character and still feel and appear natural in it, without been seen as pushing too hard? 

If your honest answers to the above questions are YES, then you are the next talent waiting to be discovered and made into household names of Hollywood, Bollywood and Nollywood.

3. Attend Training, Seminars and workshops: Having raw talent is the first and most important thing, but putting that talent to great use and getting good returns and value is where training and education comes in, where you need to learn the basic skills and quality traits of becoming a successful actor or actress, This training could involve pursuing a degree in the university to study theatre arts, that’s if you can afford it, or simply go for short time certificate course in acting, needed to boost your acting Resume alongside your soon to be discovered talents by movie agency, film directors and film producers. If you can still not afford the finance to acquire a professional training in acting, simply go online and search for acting related materials to read and study, don’t let that noble acting dream of yours die.

4. Join a Local based theater and drama group: while you are still building yourself for a career in acting, I will strongly advice you join a theater group, which could be in your community, church or school and make sure you are very active, that way you are building up yourself career wise and also creating a platform for people to discover your exceptional acting skills. 

5. Networking: there is so much power in creating synergy with people of like minds who share in your dreams and passion; with them you can get the right information for career advancement. Having a network of people who are also interested in the things you love will give you a sense of belonging and the drive to keep going in realizing your dream in the midst of all the challenges and initial rejections you might encounter.

6. Create your Resume: Your resume should be comprehensive details about yourself, training and education attained, the jobs you have done acting wise, your accomplishments, the area of your strength. Remember to sell yourself very well to Film and movie directors or producers who made end up reading about you, Please be very convincing but yet humble on why you deserve an acting role.

7. Information/Audition: Remember aside the chances of been spotted on local stage of your theater group or drama club by movie agencies, directors and producer, your surest and straight forward way to land a acting role and becoming a reputable actor or actress is through auditions, here you have Movie professionals seeking individuals to cast in their movie and get a chance to achieve their dreams, you could land acting role on the spot if you happen to fit into the character they are looking for.  Avoid dubious people who are only after robbing you of money and claiming to have information about auditions, most of them are scam and beware of contacts you get online who promise to have information on audition dates and venue, always verify how genuine such claims are and if any one ask for money to have you featured in audition in the name of registration fee, please avoid such persons, auditions are meant to be free medium of selecting would be actors and actress to cast in movies. 

On a closing note, remember, good things don’t always come easy most times; they need Patient for them to turn into reality, so while waiting for that big break, be patient! but yet proactive!, Always be active in activities that will give you exposure and spot light for you to always be in the eyes of people, you can never tell who is who that is in the audience, don’t rest on your laurels, don’t stop working towards attaining your acting career goals and don’t stop in believing your God given talent will see the light of the day soonest.
