Femi was born in Epe, in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital into the Family of Mr and Mrs. Michael Otedola, an Ex-Governor of Lagos State.

Femi Otedola Attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria between 1980 and 1985.

He is married to Nana Otedola and are both blessed with children; ;Olawunmi Christy Otedola, Ifeoluwa Florence Otedola, Temi Otedola.

Nigerian Business man and Oil mogul, Femi Otedola is the CEO of Nigeria's foremost Oil Compay, Zenon Petroleum and gas company, a major marketer of Kerosene and diesel products in Nigeria.

Femi Otedola also owns Forte Oil (Formally, African Petroluem, AP) with over 500 petrol stations spread across the country.

Femi Otedola is the highest owner of ships in Nigeria, In a bid to position Zenon Oil has leading Diesel distributor in Nigeria he acquired Four (4) Cargo ships to aid transportation of crude products in and outside Nigeria. The ships are name after is Father, Mother and wife: MT Sir Michael, MT Lady Doja and MT Nana respectively. Zenon Oil Limited latest ship is named Zenon conquest.

Following Global Economic reccession and an 80 percent drop in the Price African Petroleum (Now Forte Oil) Otedola had a rough time with his business and got listed on  Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) N192 billion Debtors in September, 2012,(Published on This day live, a Nigerian Newspaper on 22, september 2012 ) with banks in Nigeria, given instruction to stop lending to The Oil Mogul.

He finally paid of his debts in October 2013 and went on to rise back bigger and better, with Forbes estimating Femi Otedola as currently worth $800 million. 

Even with a huge Debts close to $900 million, The oil giant overcame the challenge and reposition his Companies back on track.

Otedola also owns FO Properties, Seaforce shipping company, Swift Insurance and Atlas shipping Agency.
