Senator Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu was born into the popular Tinubu Family in Lagos on 29th March 1952.
He had his early Primary education at St. John's Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos-Island.
In 1975, Young and vibrant Tinubu set out of Nigeria to study in the United states where he had his University Degree ( Bachelor of Science degree) in Business Administration (Accounting and Management) from Chicago State University,Illinois. A brilliant student at the University,Bola Tinubu was awarded the prestigious Sumna cum laude for scoring 3.54 out of possible 4.0 GP , graduating with honours in 1979. Pro to the time he attended Richard Daley College, Chicago, Illinois before transferring his course credit to Chicago State University, where he finally graduated.
As a young hopeful Nigerian trying to find his feet and achieving his set out goals, Life in a foreign land wasn't all rosy, but with the support of His mother, who most Lagosians refer to his great pillar of support, coupled with great zeal and commitment to succeed, Senator Bola Tinubu took to menial jobs such as dish washing, working as a Taxi driver and in-between a security guard on the Night shift in the United states of America to reduce the initial school challenges encountered at Richard Daley College, Chicago, Illinois.
After graduating from University, Bola Tinubu worked in a United states of America company, Deloitte Haskins and Touche and one of the biggest Utility and communication company, GTE service corporation.
in 1983 Bola Tunubu returned to Nigeria to work with Mobil Oil Nigeria, as a Senior Auditor.
Bola Tinubu is married to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the current Senator representing Lagos central. His Daugther Folashade Tinubu was installed the IYA OLOJA GENERAL (meaning "woman head of market men and women"), shortly after the death of Tinubu's mother in 2013, who has held the Position before her death. His youngest Daughter, Abibat Tinubu graduated from Boston Music college in Massachusetts, United States of America in 2013.
He became a senator in Nigeria in 1992 in 1992, when he was elected to the Nigerian Senate as a representative of Lagos West constituency.
Following the annulment of June 12, Presidential election which was denied Late M.K.O Abiola, whom many believed won the Presidential election, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu went into self-exile in 1994, returning to Nigeria in 1998 shortly after the death of Military dictator and head of States, General Sani Abacha.
In 1999, Bola Tinubu contested the the Alliance for Democracy (AD) Lagos state Governorship Primaries alongside, Wahab Dosunmu(former minister for works and housing) and Funsho Williams.A party primaries which he won and then went on to win the Governorship election of the state in 1999.
He served two terms as Governor of Lagos state between 1999 and 2007.
After leaving Office in 2007, Governor Bola Tinubu became involved in a project of founding stronger opposition party that is big enough to unseat the present ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In February 2013 he and his political associates and Retired General Muhammadu Buhari founded the All Progressive Congress (APC), which was a merger between three political parties (All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP,Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and the Congress for progressive change, CPC).
