Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is a Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, an apex bank in the Country saddled with the task of financial and banking regulatiions and a current Emir of Kano (traditional held of Kano). succeeded is great grand Uncle, the late Dr. Ado Bayero to become the  emir of the state shortly after his death on June 6 2014.

Sanusi was appointed under the Umaru Musa Yar'Adua/Jonathan administration on June 1st 2009(Comfirmed by the Nigerian Senate on 3rd of June same year) to held the central Bank as the Governor, a position He was meant to serve a five years tenure before been suddenly suspended  from statory position as CBN Governor on February 20, 2014 by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, following his revelation on alledge 20 billion dollar fraud been committed by  Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) who where said to be associates of President Jonathan.

Sanusi attended the prestigious  King's College, Lagos (1977) had his University Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Kano, Northern Nigeria((1981)) and African International University Khartoum in Sudan, where he studied  Sharia and Islamic Studies and graduated with a degree in 1997.

Sanusi has worked in various top financial Institutions in Nigeria and abroad, He started his banking career in Icon Limited subsidiary of Morgan Guaranty Trust Bank that specialized in merchant banking in 1985, He has also worked in Baring Brothers of London , In 1997 he became General Manager in Credit and risk management arm of the United Bank for Africa, UBA.

Mallam Sanusi continued his banking career in First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) in 2005 as Executive Director of Risk Management Control and later rose to become the first Northerner to be named Managing Director ,Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the bank in January 2009

His Royal Highness Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is married to Rakiya Sanusi, Maryam Sanusi and Sadiya Ado Bayero
